Firstly for those I haven’t personally wished a happy new year please take this as my wish of all things good to you and yours for the coming year.  A year filled with health and happiness.

This is not just another new year but 2010 and the Soccer World Cup - bringing with it soccer fans, dollars, Euros and pounds – we hope… Being of the half full persuasion I’m always confident that things will go well and I’m pretty sure we’ll give the world a ‘good show’ and they’ll leave South Africa blown away with our country’s beauty and hospitality.

For Media Mentors 2010 means trying even harder to meet clients’ needs.

One revamped course (due to demand) that I’m now offering is ‘A four day course on earning a living from freelancing’ which will cover various type of commercial writing skills, as well as how to sell your work.

Naturally all my other services remain: speech writing, editing, newsletters, writing for websites etc

My newest offering

My newest offering comes from the need by many companies who have cut back on full time staff and are more reliant on ‘hourly work’.  This is why I’m offering a retainer option on the following monthly basis:
10 hours – R6000; 20 hours – R11 000; 30 hours – R15 000

Services include:

  • Writing and editing – Newsletters, reports, web pages, proposals – almost any written business document
  • Designing media plans for press campaigns
  • Advising on media dealings
  • Training remains a separate ‘chargeable’ item.

I will be writing another book this year (not sure which of three ideas will come to fruition yet) and of course writing my blogs and columns on Bizcommunity and articles here and there.

My work with the Carter Center continues and we’re hoping to secure sponsorship here to carry on offering the Mental Health Journalism Fellowships.

Do get in touch and where possible I’d love to see you all for a cup of coffee and a chat.

Warmest regards,
Marion Scher
